What Progress Have I Made

Example: John's

Your Goal

This exercise is designed to motivate you to carry out your preferred option. This exercise enables you to track the progress you have made in thinking about the decision that you face. You should have made a lot of progress and be well placed to put into operation your wise decision - well done!!

Try the following tasks to see the Progress you have made

  1. Comparing your understanding, before and now, of:
    • the situation
    • the decision facing you
    • what matters
    • the options
    • your decision

  2. Review the emotions you analysed in stage 1, see how strongly you feel these emotions now, and what you think the appropriate action to take in response to them is. Pay particular attention to your emotions related to your ability and confidence to deal with this problem. You should now feel more realistically confident about your ability to deal with this problem

  3. Look at the decision you have chosen and note how it captures the values that you have determined most weightily matter. If the solution does not capture everything that matters realise that you have chosen an option that captures much of what you have weighed up as really mattering. Completely fulfilling all the values is rarely possible, so you might feel some regret about what is missing, but feel satisfied that you are capturing what is most weighty

  4. If you wish you can review your previous templates or fill in the template below
