MOTIVATION TIPS

The kind of person who would carry out this option is...
  1. someone who has thought and felt carefully about what to do
  2. someone who doesn't give up easily when faced with difficulties
  3. someone who is really motivated to provide a good solution for his mother's welfare
  4. someone who is kind and caring
If I were not to carry out this option later I would feel...
  1. disappointed with myself and rather guilty
  2. sadness that I had let both myself and my mother down
The negatives in proportion...
  1. it is a negative that I will not be able to spend so much time with my mother if she doesn't stay with me
  2. I will still be able to spend a lot of time however and the other values more than make up for this
Fight vivid material with vivid material...
  1. both the 'last summer' and 'institutionalism' are vivid
  2. against the vividness of the last summer is the vividness of a the 'last winter' with my mother having serious problems when left by me, and her increasing disorientation
  3. against the vividness of 'institutionalism' is my impressions of the home I have visited
Make a public commitment...
  1. I have talked this over with some friends and told them what I plan to do
Mentally prepare yourself to deal with awkward moments...
  1. I am planning what I want to say to the medical staff (what reasons will I give, what are they likely to say to me)

  2. I am planning what to say to my mother and thinking what she will say to me
Make use of your emotions to provide a motor...
  1. I am still anxious about my mother's welfare. I can use this anxiety to spur me on and can conjure this anxiety if I need it by focusing on vivid material that makes me anxious
The risks of not taking the decision...
  1. Taking this decision does mean that there is a risk that my mother will become depressed (although I've already thought of ways to reduce this risk). However the risk to her if she stays at home while I'm not there is even greater
