John's plan of action

PLAN OF ACTION

I will:
  1. Speak to the Doctors about the possibility of bringing my mother home for short periods, or having away-days from the hospital

  2. Seek a second opinion if I feel that I need one

  3. Arrange for a counsellor in the hospital to speak to mother to find out whether she wants to leave the hospital at all

  4. If it seems to be medically safe for my mother to leave the hospital for some periods, and my mother wishes this, I will bring her home for a couple of weeks which I will take as a holiday from work and school and then take her out for weekends and other times when I can. I will also investigate the possibility of getting out of hospital medical care either state financed or through getting a loan of some sort
Obstacles I might face are... I will deal with these obstacles by... An alternative Course of Action is...
The hospital administrators might not want to allow my mother to go in and out of the hospital
Carefully working out what I want from them and why, and if possible get support from my Doctor for this plan As a last resort the hospital can hardly turn my mother way from hospital given her condition so although they might not like it if I take her out for a couple of weeks then there can hardly refuse her a place
My mother saying that she does not want to go into the hospital at all Seeking to persuade her that I love her and am doing my best by to look after her with this plan. If she is adamant that she will not stay in the hospital then we could try and find some way for her to raise money to get private medical care or failing that I will have to override this wish of hers. This is a weighty objective but not as weighty as others that it might come into conflict with. furthermore by spending some time out of hospital her wishes are being at least partially satisfied
